Le Village Gaulois is a recreated Gaulish village, with demonstrations of many different things going on at various times, including a forge, making coins, weaving, a tannery. There were also animals in various pens around the village, and people in period costumes.
Lloyd decided that we should travel across country, on the not main roads, to avoid the very busy toll highways, and to see some of the countryside along the way. Sure, why not?, we agreed! Distance-wise, it wasn't that much longer of a drive. Long story short, we saw a lot of amazing scenery on our way to Le Village Gaulois, almost three hours of scenery for an hour drive on the toll highways... (Needless to say, we returned home via the major roads, and lo and behold, we were home within the hour! LOL!)
Carson absolutely loved the village, as did Lloyd and I. I would really like to go back some time, and take it all in again, without bored 5 and 2 year old children in tow. Riley liked some of it, and Margo was somewhat less than impressed by the entire endeavour. ;D
There are lots of pictures like these three from the looooong drive. ;)
Finally, arriving at Le Village Gaulois. Note the massive gates.
Lloyd stands just under 6 ft, and these totally dwarfed him!
The knocker was massive.

Riley was entranced by the boars, thanks to his Astérix & Obelix obsession.
Carson trying out one of the beds.
The start of the money-making demonstration.
Lloyd and Carson got to watch him actually beat the metal into a coin.
(The littles ones and I left well before that point, sadly.)
The forge...
Other pictures of the village...
