Chemin de Fer Touristique du Tarn

Chugga chugga, choo choo!!

This was the noise my children were making, the lovely fall afternoon when we took them to Saint Lieux-lès-Lavaur to ride on a steam engine. It was a fairly short ride, on a reclaimed section of track that was in service in the 1920s. We started in Saint Lieux-lès-Lavaur, and ended at a lovely garden. You then had the option of walking around the garden for an hour, and catching the next return train, or just returning immediately. The gardens were spectacular.

(The engine backing up to couple to the train cars at the station.)

(Waving hello to Lloyd through the window.)

(A view of the Aout river. You can see the shadow of the train
on the water as the train crossed the bridge.)

(Stopped at a midpoint on the journey. This was a traditional spot
for the train to stop, stoke the engines, add water, etc, before continuing on its journey.)

(Goofy, excited children on the train. Carson was enthralled with the ride,
and was at the front of the car, as close to the engine as he could get.)

(A quick shot of the garden from the train, which oddly,
is the only picture of the garden we have! LOL!)
