Barcelona
A drive through Cathar country, and some snowy, gentle, worn down old mountains. Note: We are used to the Rocky Mountains - new, rough, young upstarts. ;-)
Pit-stop beside Carcassonne.
2 nights, 1 day: Tired children.
A first look at the Mediterranean for me, and my children.
Barcelona Aquarium: Totally awesome. Sharks!! Sharks eating!!
StingRays, penquins, princes and frogs, wishes and fishes.
The loveliest tapas experience one could hope for for a first-timer.
(With a unique group photo in the mirrored overhang of the restaurant awning.)
La Rambla: Sleeping Margo, lovingly carried by her Momma & Papa, and "The Aunties" each in turn, sound asleep, up and down the walk of loosely scattered vendors and patrons.
Spanish Village, finally, finally located after road construction, detours, tears, shouts, frustration, near closing time, a happy, yet gloomy walk around a near ghost-town, shops closed, but still, we made it!
La Sagrada Familia: Awesome in its unfinished state. Shall be truly magnificent when it is finished, and without the scaffolding as an impediment to the sight of such architectural splendor.
Our time here was too fleeting, and yet, for me, it was an oddly satisfying sample of the many delights that Barcelona has for us to tease open in future visits. It was delightful to walk with Meghan through parts of the city that she has adored since her first visit here three years ago, even though we missed some of what she was hoping to experience this trip. I know that I will be back here again. As will Meghan. :)
